Nike Zoom Kobe VI- For his 6th signature sneaker with Nike, Kobe wanted a sneaker that molds to his foot.  Designer Eric Avar achieved just that with the Zoom Kobe Vi.  Kobe wore the Vis during the 2010-2011 NBA season.

After the success of the revolutionary Zoom Kobe IV, Eric Avar was once again the designer for Kobe’s next signature sneaker.  With Kobe wanting to keep the low profile from the previous sneaker, soccer boots and soccer players were the main inspirations for the Zoom Kobe 5.  They studied how soccer players were able to play in low cut shoes and not injure themselves.  Newer materials were added such as a new lightweight TPU skin to make the Kobe V weigh just 10.6oz.

After the season of the Zoom Kobe 3, Kobe met with Eric Avar concerning some ideas for his next shoe for the 2008-2009 NBA season.  He wanted the lightest and lowest basketball sneaker around.  After the Nike Research team determined that a low cut basketball sneaker was safe for the sport, the Zoom Kobe 4 was born.  The Kobe 4 featured Zoom Air, Lunar foam and Flywire technology.  Kobe would go on to win his 4th NBA championship and his first ever Finals MVP award.

Nike Zoom Kobe 3- Released in 2007, the Nike Zoom Kobe 3 was Kobe Bryant’s third signature sneaker with Nike.  The Legendary Ken Link was appointed to take over the design of the Kobe 3.  A waffle-like injected molded pattern was used for stability in the upper regions of the sneaker.  The diamond motif throughout the sneaker was inspired by the name of Kobe’s daughter Diamante.  During the 2007-08 season, Kobe earned his first league MVP award and led the Lakers to the NBA finals ultimately losing to the Boston Celtics in 6 games.

Nike Zoom Kobe II- Once again Ken Link was in charge of designing the second NIke signature sneaker for superstar Kobe Bryant.  They were designed with the Nike Free and Nike Considered concepts in mind to create a sneaker for a player as talented as KB.  Kobe wore these during the 2006-2007 NBA season.

I originally planned on doing 5 Dunk Highs but, I did a few extra without realizing it.  So I’ll post them up anyway.
Released in 2007, the MF Doom Dunk was a collaboration between Nike and famed underground rapper MF Doom.  The sneaker feature leather and nubuck uppers with an ostrich skin texure for the toe.

Kobe Signature series colorways

First of all, I want to thank everyone for supporting The Ill Suite.  I love sharing my art with people who appreciate the sneaker culture as much as I do.  With that being said, I just wanted to reach out and connect with the supporters.  The next series I plan on doing is the Kobe Bryant collection with Nike.  Instead of me choosing the colorways, I was hoping I could get some ideas from you all.  So hit me up with your favorite colorways and I’ll pick the first one I receive for each sneaker. To keep it fair as possible, I’ll only take one colorway per person.

Peace.
